Well.... It's been a while. When I started this blog project, I had hoped for it to be an easy thing. Something I can work on once a week. And it was, but as with many things, life gets in the way.
I got quite busy last year, with several things. But two in particular contributed to this hiatus:
One
I needed to find a new job. Job hunting was taking up a significant amount of my time. Thankfully, I found one and am now a little more stable once again. However, the second issue was really the bigger one...
Two
This blog was not... that well set up. I wrote the code for this entire website from scratch. In some ways that was a great thing! I learned a lot about html, css, and php - none of which I had any significant prior experience with. It took a while to get things up and running, but that was ok, because I was learning. However, the more I blogged the more I began to realise that my site had some... inadequacies. Namely, any time I wanted to make a new post, after writing it I had to copy and paste various elements and links into several different locations. The process was extremely tedious, and a significant contributor to posting feeling more like hard work than it should. So, I've taken some time, and now, although it feels the same on your end, my website is significantly different. After writing a post, all I have to do is update a single database and my site now automatically populates everything else. My god, it's so much easier.
In the meantime, I have finished making the basic rules for Rogue's Masquerade, and even pitched it to a couple of publishers! I have been doing a campaign playtest of my TTRPG The Vow, and even had some ideas for some smaller (and bigger) future projects. Lots of work still do be done on the others first though, of course. I've also had a hand in writing a play! (More on that later).
Anyway, I am back. Working on creating a mailing list database, and a couple of other fixes for the site before I take it public public (i.e., post about it on social media and make it a little bit more discoverable), but that day is not too far away now. In the meantime, I'll be back to posting weekly, and hoping that it'll someday be seen by someone. Thanks for being that person!
